Longer bio: (188 words, including contact info)

Kathryn Erskine grew up in Europe, Africa, Canada, and the United States. She attended eight schools and four universities and was a lawyer before becoming an author. Her many acclaimed books for young readers include National Book Award winner, Mockingbird. Her goal is to write books that give readers, young and old, a chance to think, laugh, and realize that they have the power to achieve their dreams.

She has been lucky to visit schools in the U.S., including Guam, as well as Scotland, Italy, Brazil, Panama, and Singapore, not to mention those via Zoom, and hopes to visit many more. Her adult teaching venues include the Highlights Foundation, WriterHouse, Whale Rock Workshops, and any organizations interested in the craft of writing.

She always has several books in progress and her office is stacked with papers like Abe Lincoln’s law office, which she discovered from her research on a biography of that president. She’s considering using his sign on her largest pile: “When you can’t find it anywhere else, look in this.”

Erskine can be reached via her website (http://www.kathrynerskine.com), Twitter (@KathyErskine), Facebook (Kathy Erskine) or email (kathy.erskine@me.com).
